Greetings. This website is about the Bosque River Trail (BRT), which is located in Stephenville Texas. Stephenville is approximately 60 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Texas along Route 377. The website focuses on birds observed along the trail.

The Trail

The Bosque River Trail runs along the Bosque River. The trail is entirely within the city limits of Stephenville, a university town home to Tarleton State University. While the trail is within the city limits it is bordered by hayfields, forest, and open grass plains. There is a short section of the trail that runs through a neighborhood of the city. During dry weather the river is usually small and in most places is only a few feet wide. When it rains, however, the river can be a torrent tens of feet wide.

The main trail runs generally north to south and is 2.6 miles long (5.2 miles round trip). It is entirely paved with concrete, and is an easy walk. The trail starts in Stephenville City Park. It ends at the Lingleville Highway. There is a short, mostly asphalt trail south of the main trail. I call this the south loop. The south loop is about a mile long.

About this website

There is nothing for sale on this website. The website is non-profit, and there is no way to donate to it. The website is for educational and viewing purposes. Mostly I will list birds I see and identify on daily walks along the trail. Any data collected is free for anyone to use. I will also post pictures of birds that I take on the daily walks. All the picture on the website are ones I have taken. Sometimes I may talk about and show other wildlife pictures taken along the BRT

I am not a professional ornithologist or even a bird watcher. So apologies for misused bird names. I am also not a professional photographer. So, apologies for blurry photos.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the website, and if you get a chance, visit the BRT.
