Fish Nests

If you look closely at this picture you will see a fish associated with each circle. The circles are nests where fish lay their eggs. They are composed of pebble-sizes stones piled up into circles. Larger stones are in the center of each circle. The fish probably use their fins to push stones into shallow piles. The green around the piles are aquatic plants.

Perch

This is a picture of a fish associated with a stone-circle-nest. You can see the stone nature of the nest. I am no fish expert. A friend of mine identified the fish as Perch. I have asked fishermen along the river what type of fish they catch. Perch is always the first answer. Crappies, Bass, and Catfish are also mentioned.
