Bird count along the Bosque River trail June 9, 2026

Weather: Clear, light wind, Temp at 7:00am - 75, high temp today ~94.

Experience 1: I saw a Starling with just one leg. It seemed to cope ok with a missing leg. It hopped energetically along the ground, and eventually flew off.

Experience 2: I watched a Western Kingbird drive first a Bluejay, and then a cardinal away from a nest. The nest is in the big tree in the middle of the large hayfield. This is the tree that I sometimes see a Summer Tanager perching on and singing from in the morning.
