Bird count along the Bosque River Trail July 14, 2026 (a lot dryer than yesterday)

Weather - Mostly cloudy, but with large patches of clear sky, very light wind, temp ~ 75 degrees at 7:00 am.

Event 1 Black Belly Whistling Ducks - The ducks were back on the tree branch over the river again. Only there were only three today instead of six like yesterday.

Event 2 Summer Tanager - The Summer Tanager was back at the top of the tree in the hayfield. I see him (its a male) there about half of the time I walk the BRT. The Summer Tanagers have been here about a month and a half.

Event 3 Grackles - Grackles have taken over the park. Today I watched what I can only describe as a Grackle train. I watched a long string of Grackles flying in ones or twos, five to ten feet apart. There were probably fifty or so Grackles in the train. They were all heading towards a patch of grass near the tennis courts.
