Bird count along the Bosque River Trail June 12, 2026

Weather: clear with a few high clouds, no wind, Temp ~ 75 at 7am, very humid, light wind picks up at ~8:30am

Event 1: There are a few dirt pathways which lead down to the river. I take one or two of these most days. Today I went down a short forested path to the river. A hummingbird landed on a tree branch about 20 feet away. Unfortunately it was too dark to get a good look at, or a good picture of, the bird. I did get a couple of blurry dark photos of the hummingbird.

Event 2: The number of barn swallows is noticeably decreasing.

Event 3: I watched a belted Kingfisher chase away several Grackles which entered its territory. I have seen a pair of belted Kingfishers in this area several times. I think there is a nest nearby.
