Bird count along the Bosque River Trail August 4, 2026. Funny hummingbird.

Weather - clear, no wind, temp ~75 degrees at 7:00 am. Its very dry in Stephenville. Supposed to be 101 degrees this afternoon.

Black Belly Whistling Ducks - I haven’t seen any of these ducks for about a week. I thought maybe they had migrated south. Today I saw two BBWDs flying around the park and landing in a tree near the footbridge.

Hummingbird - I saw a hummingbird today in an area where I have never seen a Hummingbird. I was walking past my bench in the park and I saw a Hummingbird fluttering in the air by the river. It wasn’t near any flowers or flower bearing trees. It was just hanging out near the river. There are a few trumpet vines in trees in the park. These plants have a few flowers.
