Bird count along the Bosque River Trail. Fish in trouble.

Weather - clear, no wind, temp ~ 80 degrees at 7:15 am. Supposed to be 100 to 104 degrees today. Almost a full Moon in the west, about 20 degrees above the horizon.

Bird count - pretty low bird type count today. Maybe it’s the heat.

Black fish in trouble - At the bridge near the large hill is a large pool of remaining water. The river is dry above and below the pool. There are a large number of fish in the pool. The most abundant type of fish is a small black, minnow-sized fish. There are hundreds of these black fish in the pool. I hope it rains soon or these fish are going to be on dry land.

Fish nests - At the other end of the BRT in the park are the fish nests. They were still here today, but they appeared to be less distinct, and there seemed to be fewer of them.

House Finches - A flock of House Finches has taken up residence just below the dam, of the south loop of the BRT. I’ve seen them several times at the same place.

Barred Owl - No Owls in the Owl place today.
