Bird count along the Bosque River Trail, July 21 2026. Day of the Herons.

Weather - clear, no wind, temp ~75 at 7:00 am. At 10:00 am it got very hot. High temp today supposedly 104 degrees.

Herons - As I crossed the pedestrian bridge in the park I saw a Great Blue Heron perched on a bush on the bank of the Bosque. I saw some movement on the opposite bank on a branch closer to the river. This movement was caused by a Green Heron. As I watched two Green Herons burst into view and flew up the river channel. I saw one of the Green Herons later sitting in a tree in the park. I was sitting on my bench at the time drinking my coffee.
