Bird count along the Bosque River Trail July 20, 2026, day of the unknown

Weather - clear, light wind, temp ~ 75 degrees at 7:00 am. Supposed to reach 100 degrees this afternoon.

Bosque River - the river is low and sluggish. It is dried up in some places north of the small dam in the park. South of the dam aways the city drainage system empties into the river. So, this part of the rver had more water in it.

Unknown birds - for some reason I saw a lot of birds that I could not identify. I have made a guess for these birds in the count list.

Black Belly Whistling Ducks - I saw seven BBWDs today. They were flying around the park making their squeaking call. They made quite a ruckus.

1 Unidentified - small bird - green on top - yellow belly - possibly a female Painted Bunting

1 Unidentified - a Hawk or Owl - This bird swooped down of a tree branch and flew rapidly up the river. I think it was an Owl.

1 Unidentified - a small yellow-green bird

1 Unidentified - a medium sized bright yellow bird - I think it was probably a Yellow Warbler.
